      Auto Expo 2012 promotes Mercedes-Benz's mb.Inspired Initiative and witnesses the launch of two Mercedes-Benz cars

      Mercedes-Benz arrived at the eagerly awaited Auto Expo to bring forward its all-new outlook, besides launching two lately manifested vehicles. Mercedes-Benz has carved a distinct identity for itself in the market by following the philosophy of bringing out “Best or Nothing”. This principle has been a driving force for Mercedes-Benz operations across the globe. Other than helping the company to receive credit for a number of innovations, the philosophy has motivated Mercedes-Benz to strive for the best and lead the race in the auto sector. Mercedes-Benz would be highlighting this philosophy through its mb.Inspired initiative.

      India has achieved innumerable milestones in every field and currently positions itself among the rapidly developing nations. The young India will be recognised for its potential and optimism that has provided the country a coveted place in various key sectors having great global importance. mb. Inspired aims to take into account the unmatched thinking of individuals and associate with them to inspire others. This frame of mind of Mercedes-Benz will support the company to promote its philosophy of “Best or Nothing” among the Indian consumers in the best possible way.

      Youth icons like Farhan Akhtar, Irfan Pathan, Chetan Bhagat and Masaba Gupta have been a great inspiration to the company while formulating its brand values. These young minds have motivated many people to change their mindset and think at par with the rising future. These icons have been able to achieve new highs with the philosophy of “Best or Nothing”.

      All-new line-up

      Mercedes-Benz India has come up with the country's most powerful open top car, the SLS AMG roadster. The power-packed performer boasts of a 6.3-litre V8 engine that accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds.

      The company also showcased its latest M-Class at the Auto Expo 2012. The mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV) entered the global market six months back. For India, the new SUV will be assembled at Mercedes-Benz's Pune facility.

      The Concept A-Class also made its way to the Mercedes-Benz stand at the Auto Expo. The concept gives an all-new definition to product design with its innovative and class apart looks. The Concept A-Class along with Fuel-Cell technologies indicates the futuristic design that would form an integral part of the Mercedes-Benz portfolio in the coming time.

      SLS AMG Roadster

      After setting the pulse racing across the world, the SLS AMG Roadster is geared up to conquer the Indian roads through its unprecedented performance, head turning design and adrenal-gushing speed. The roofless SLS AMG Roadster has been built to offer unconventional force and best-in-class luxury. The consummate amalgamation of sporty and bold looks entices the onlookers instantly. On the whole, Roadster has been successful in striking a balance between each and every aspect that contributes in making a perfect car. The radiator grille at the exterior has been designed in a way that the car stands apart completely. The contour of Roadster has been well-defined with thin lines and skilled finishing. The large bonnet compliments the automatically elongating rear aerofoil, wide wheelbase, wider body and short projection. With less kerb weight and roofless body, Roadster has the potential of leading the sports car segment in India.

      The SLS AMG Roadster efficiently incorporates the AMG philosophy of German engineering and craftsmanship. The interior environment would irrefutably live up to the expectations of the users by sharing its design with an aircraft cockpit. Moreover, highly noticeable advanced features like the wing-shaped dashboard and air vents with adaptable cruciform nozzles used in jet engines make the interior more attractive. The large-size console made up of matt, solid metal and the latest E-SELECT lever has been crafted to match the design of aircraft's thrust control. 

      The speed quotient of Roadster has been worked upon to suffice the racing needs and take its performance to a whole new level. The eight-cylinder V8 engine has the capability of generating a maximum power of 571 hp at 6800 rpm and a peak torque of 650 Nm at 4750 rpm. Roadster can touch the 100 kmph mark in 3.8 seconds and offers highest speed of 317 kmph. The SLS AMG Roadster has not missed on anything and confirms its entry in the best sports cars list right from the start.

      The SLS AMG Roadster is powered by a four-cylinder V8 engine that delivers a total displacement of 6208 cc. Besides a Bore x stroke of 102.2 x 94.6 mm, the engine is capable of producing a compression ratio of 11.3:1. The motor consumes NEDC ratified 13.2 litres of fuel per 100 km. The engine is low on CO2 emissions and produces 308 g/km.

      New M-Class

      The all-new generation M-Class has carried the legacy forward while going that extra mile in terms of design, technology and performance. Keeping it simple yet extraordinary, the new M-Class SUV has been offered with a strong exterior. On the other hand, the interior indicates the exclusive know-how used for emphasising on each and every detail. The vehicle is ought to wear the crown with respect to safety, convenience and quality. M-Class provides the best comfort and sufficient space for cargo. In addition, the SUV has gained expertise in adapting to the varied on-road and off-road situations. 

      The new M-Class displays a decent width that suits crowded city streets. In spite of carrying larger dimensions as against the predecessor, the SUV does not come out as an overweight giant. The length and frame of the SUV have been stretched while the height is shortened. The hood of the engine has been given a distinct design and the LED lights are responsible for the sportier appearance of the SUV. The new taillights have been successful in offering much grace to the car's design. 

      The new M-Class confirms to befit the off-road conditions and embodies exclusive off-button technology present on the console. This technology would help engine performance, automatic transmission, anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Electronic Traction System to adapt to the changing requirements. 

      Mercedes M-Class (M 350 CDI) boasts of a four-cylinder V6 engine that is capable of putting out a displacement of 2987 cc. The V6 motor has a compression ratio of 15.4:1 and a Bore x stroke of 83 x 92 mm. The engine churns out a maximum power of 258 hp at 3600 rpm and a peak torque of 620 Nm at 1600-2400 rpm. The NEDC combined fuel consumption stands at 7.4-6.8 litres per 100 km. M-Class produces controlled CO2 emissions of 194-179 g/km. The SUV accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 7.4 seconds and attains highest speed of 224 kmph.

      Common among all Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the new M-Class too boasts of exclusive technologies dedicated to safety. With nine logically positioned airbags, M-Class ensures minimum injuries during a crash. The car also comprises PRE-SAFE technology that warns the driver regarding any hazard, well in time.

      The new M-Class considers that contributing towards a safe environment is its responsibility and thus, offers the ECO start-stop function that ensures fuel efficiency and controlled emissions. The feature automatically switches off the engine in situations like traffic jam.

      ATTENTION ASSIST is yet another useful technology that finds a place in the third generation M-Class. The technology signals if it detects incomplete concentration on part of the driver while travelling. An Active Parking Assist that embodies PARKTRONIC technology and the latest rear view camera ensures safe parking and reversing.  

      M-Class has been awarded with EURO NCAP 5 Star rating that further proves its mettle.
