      Auto Expo 2012: Ducati rolls out its low-cost model, the Monster 795

      Ducati India showcased its highly anticipated, low-cost Monster model, M795, at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012 on Friday 6th January. It was unveiled by Mirko Bordiga CEO, Ducati Asia Pacific and Ashish Chordia, CEO, Ducati India. The Monster 795 has particularly been built for the Asian customers. It is the cheapest Ducati model in India with a price tag of Rs. 6,99,000 (ex-showroom).

      With the launch of the Monster 795, the company aims to expand its base in the Asian automobile market. Mirko Bordiga, CEO Ducati Asia Pacific, said: “Monster has been the Ducati model sold in the highest numbers all over the world: it is an icon and represents an important part of Ducati’s history. The new Monster 795 has been thought and developed specifically for the Asian markets and for the growing group of Ducatisti in this area.”

      Ashish Chordia, CEO, Ducati India, during the launch, said “The new Monster 795 has been eagerly awaited in India and we have priced it attractively to make it easier for Ducatisti to own their favourite brand. This is an important model for our market and we expect it to contribute to our sales significantly. ”

      Ducati, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, was established in 1926 and has been manufacturing motorcycles since 1946. The Ducati motorcycles are popular for ‘Desmodromic performance engines’, novel designs and latest technology. The company manufactures a wide range of motorcycles that are categorised into Diavel, Hypermotard, Monster, Multistrada, Streetfighter and Superbike. The Ducati motorcycles are sold in more than 80 countries, with major market share in the European, North-American and Asia Pacific.

      Ducati participates in the World Superbike Championship and also has an official team in the World MotoGP Championship. In the World Superbike Championship, Ducati was awarded the Manufacturer’s titles 16 times and the Riders’ titles 13 times. Since 2003, the company has also been participating in the World MotoGP Championship and in 2007, it won both the Manufacturers' and Riders' titles.
