      Audi R8 e-tron concept car unveiled at CES Asia

      Luxury car manufacturer Audi has gone and taken the curtains off the R8 e-tron concept, which is an all-electrical piloted driving vehicle. The firm unveiled this concept car at the ongoing Consumer Electronic Show (CES) Asia being held in Shanghai. A sports car with a lightweight design, this vehicle features high performance systems and functions.

      This vehicle is based on the Space Frame present in the R8 – Audi’s new production model. The rear part of Audi R8 e-tron concept car has been constructed from carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and also integrates the luggage compartment. On the other hand, front and side blades of this car feature lighting solutions specific to e-tron.

      The introduction of Audi R8 e-tron concept vehicle has taken the firm’s tally of autonomously driven cars to three with the other two being RS7 and A7. Also, this concept car is fitted with an electric unit capable of delivering an output of up to 455 BHP. The car can reach a top speed of around 155 mph and can reach 62 mph from scratch in just under 4 seconds.

      Once fully charged, this car can go on till around 450 km, which is an increase of about 175 km from earlier models. Battery of this car is fitted in its center tunnel and has a T-shape. Based on a new lithium-ion technology, the battery is specifically designed for all-electric vehicles.

      Speaking on this car and Audi’s aim behind its introduction, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Research and Development head at the firm, said, “The key message for our customers: Our efficiency technologies are ready for series production and customer roll-out. The same applies to our current flagship technology – piloted driving,”
