The Germany based leading luxury car maker Audi is mulling over various options to enter the compact luxury car segment in the Indian market. A car in the compact segment will not only boost the company’s market share, but will also enable the company to beat its rivals like Mercedes and BMW. Initially, Audi is expected to roll-out its recently introduced compact hatchback – Audi A1 – in the country.

Speaking to the reporters in Hyderabad on Friday, Mr. Anil Reddi, Head (Sales), Audi India, said, “There is definitely a huge market in India for such cars (compact). We are evaluating various options (to tap this segment). The important questions are what car, at what price and the target segment. Our customers in India are very demanding and want the latest.” He was speaking at the occasion of the launch of Audi A7 Sportback in Hyderabad city.

Meanwhile, in the sales figures posted on Friday, Audi India has registered a double fold increase in its sales during the month of May. The company managed to sell a total of 408 units of its cars in the country during the month as compared to 200 units sold in the same month last year.
