      Audi India sales jump 104 percent in August

      Audi India, the third largest luxury car maker in the Indian auto market has registered a growth of 104 percent in its sales during the month of August 2011. The company managed to sell a total of 510 units of its cars in the country during this month, as compared to 250 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the January-August period in the current calendar year, the company managed to sell 3,655 cars in the Indian auto market as compared to 1,876 cars sold in the same period last year, accounting for a sales surge of 95 percent.

      Speaking to reporters in the National Capital, Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India, said, “India is well ahead of other growth markets for Audi globally, and we are confident that we are on track with our vision of being the number one luxury car manufacturer in the country, latest by year 2015.” He added that while other players in the Indian market are currently reviewing their targets downwards, Audi is confident, that it will exceed its set target of 5,000 Audi cars this year.

      The company is aggressively planning to expand its dealership network to smaller cities and towns. It aims to take the total number of its dealerships to 25 by the end of next year.
