Audi A3 launch next week, bookings open from 1st August for Rs. 3.5 Lakhs

Audi has been strong brand in the Indian market. The German carmaker has been planning on launching its entry level sedan A3 in India as a completely knocked down unit. The local manufacturing facility will keep the price affordable and well within reach. Audi has commenced local assembling of its upcoming entry level premium saloon, reportedly the A3 sedan shall be manufactured at the local facility located in Aurangabad. The luxury sedan is due for launch on August 7th, 2014. Ahead of the launch sources have reported that bookings shall be opened from 1st August for Rs. 3.5 Lakhs.

On various occassions Audi A3 test mules have been spotted on various occasions in different cities across India. Audi A3 will weigh around 1250 kgs and will come with a capacious boot space of 425 litres. Powering petrol range of A3, christened ’40 TFSI’ will be a 1.8 litre, four cylinder TFSI engine capable of outputting a top power of 180 Bhp along with a peak torque of 250 Nm. The engine will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic tranny. Diesel trims, dubbed, ’35 TDI’ on the other hand will come housed with a 2.0 liter, four cylinder, powertrain capable of engendering a pinnacle power and torque output of 143 Bhp and 320 Nm respectively. A six-speed S-Tronic gearbox will be mated to the engine. Audi’s new saloon will be made available in petrol and diesel guise.

The petrol version of Audi A3 claims to return a fuel economy of 16.6 kmpl and diesel engined A3 will deliver an ARAI certified mileage of 20.38 kmpl. An expected price ranging between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh is being speculated for the entry level saloon. Audi assembles most of its India bound models at its manufacturing unit such as A6, A4, Q5, Q7 and Q3.
