Audi A3 India launch expected in August

Audi India seems aggressive on the launch of its new entry level sedan A3 in India, as the vehicle has been spotted undergoing test runs couple of times across the country. Sources close to development have revealed that Audi could bring new A3 premium saloon in India in August this year.

Audi might miss out on some key features usually seen in Audi cars to curb price of the basic version. Speculations suggest that the entry level trim in the A3 line-up will not be donning LED headlamps. Inside the cabin, the company could proffer fabric upholstery to cut down on the price of the basic version. However, the higher trims will not be devoid of the aforementioned features and are expected to be affixed with LED head lights on the outside and leather upholstery is likely to class up the cabin. A3 made an appearance at the 2014 Auto Expo, the variant put on display sported nine-spoke alloy wheels. Audi is speculated to offer five spoke alloy wheels as standard in the entry level and middle level variants. Local assembling of the premium saloon at the company’s manufacturing unit will further help skimming the price tag. Touted to be the least priced Audi available in domestic market, A3 will have an edge over its rivals.

Under the hood will be a 1.8 litre TFSI gasoline engine good for 180 PS of top power and 250 Nm of peak torque. A 2.0 litre diesel powertrain will power the diesel variant of the saloon. The 2.0 litre diesel motor is capable of generating a pinnacle power and torque output of 152 PS and 320 Nm respectively. A six-speed manual tranny will be made available and a S-tronic dual-clutch transmission will also be offered.

Audi looks unstoppable in India as the car maker has had a fantastic beginning in the first quarter of 2014. With the new affordable sedan coming up in August, we expect the sales number to accelerate further taking Audi to zenith in the luxury segment of domestic market.
