Yet another Tata Nano went up in flames in New Delhi. The car instantaneously caught fire in front of MCD office in New Delhi when there were sparks seen from the rear and when the ignition was turned on it caught fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident though by the time fire fighters could actually take hold of the situation the car was charred beyond recognition.

Speaking on sixth incident of this kind, Tata spokesperson, Debasis Ray commented that the company will seriously take up the matter and probe and investigation. He also assured that this may be the sixth incident but there are thousands of other Nanos running smoothly and safely on Indian roads. The company has already launched a subsequent program to investigate every Nano model that is running on Indian roads after the last one caught fire.

Tata has sold more than 50,000 Nanos since the company began deliveries of the car in July 2009. A 20-member internal team and an independent forensic expert found that one previous fire involved a foreign object igniting while in contact with a hot exhaust system, while the other showed evidence of a ruptured fuel line.
