The Polo hatchback from the German car-maker Volkswagen has been quite successful in terms of sales in the local market. The car-maker has made its presence felt in the hatchback segment with the quality hatchback named 'Polo'. Design-wise the hatchback never featured a bold and aggressive stance, in-fact the car was sleek and sporty, true to its Volkswagen image. The face-lifted version of the Polo hatchback was first seen at the Geneva Motor Show. A while ago, the diesel version of the hatchback has been caught testing on Indian roads. Last week, Volkswagen has begun the deliveries for Polo hatchback in a new avatar for the German market.

Apart from cosmetic upgrades the upcoming hatchback shall receive some technical upgrades too. The new Volkswagen Polo has been stated to be faster and more exciting than its ancestors. To begin with the car shall be powered by 1.5-litre TDI four cylinder diesel engine. The engine is expected to replace the existing 1.6 Liter engine version and 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder engine. The new engine shall be mated to 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Moreover, the engine is blessed with variable-geometry turbo (VGT) technology that churns out a decent 104 Bhp of power. The new 1.5 Liter engine shall be manufactured at the company's local manufacturing plant, thereby it is anticipated that the prices may well be kept under check.

Interiors seem to be quite similar to the existing version. On the front fascia, the hatchback has received a redesigned front grill. The front bumper features chrome highlight that flows smoothly across the bumper. The smoked headlamps looks like ones featuring in the international version of the Polo hatchback. At the rear, the hatchback looks more or less like the existing version except for the reflectors that have been tweaked with a lower positioning. Volkswagen has not spoken about the pricing or exact technical details on the upcoming hatchback, a detailed report may be received only post an official launch made by the company.
