German sports car manufacturer, Porsche, has recently announced that it would be recalling the mid-engine hybrid plug-in supercar, 918 Spyder. The main reason for the recall has been cited as a faulty chassis. The recall perspective will be taking place across the globe and approximately 205 models will be brought back. Incidentally, 918 Spyder is among the most powerful sports cars to be ever made and is the most expensive models of the German manufacturer. The cost of this supercar is estimated at USD 845000, which comes to 5.4 crores INR approximately.

The main problem with the chassis that has been manufactured within a certain interval of time is a bit faulty and certain components, which have been utilised, do not have much of a guarantee on the basis of their functionality. Though, there have been no complaints from the side of the owners; however, the measure is independently being conducted by the brand as a precautionary measure.

The defect was discovered by the manufacturer in the process of an in-house quality test. The owners shall be personally contacted by the brand to get the repairs done. An appointment will be fixed by the company at the workshop and the repair works will be carried out in nearly two days. The process of repair starts from 2015.

Incidentally, this is the second recall of Porsche Spyder 918 in this calendar. Early 2014 also witnessed a call back when nearly 46 units were recalled by the company to deal with a glitch on the rear axle. The axle was under threat of breaking under extreme racing conditions. The previous recall was also made on the basis of a precautionary measure.

There have been only 918 units of the Porsche 918 Spyder, owing to the fact that it is the most expensive model in the entire line-up for Porsche. The last model was sold last month, which marked the end of the series.
