DC Design is gearing up for the launch of much-awaited Avanti sportscar in the country. The vehicle is all set to enter production line, and a total of around 500 units of the first India made sports cars will be developed in the first year. Around 450 units of the Avanti have already been booked. Interestingly, 300 units of the car will be exported to other nations. DC Design is aiming to sell around 2000 units of the car in the next four years. Showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo, the DC Avanti is likely to be priced around Rs. 40 lakh and is equipped with several goodies.

Under the hood, the DC Avanti gets the Renault sourced 2.0-litre turbo charged petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 260bhp and a peak torque of 360Nm. This engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle accelerates to 100kmph from zero in around 7 seconds, and is claimed to hit a top speed of 180kmph which is pretty decent.

The DC Avanti sports car measures 4550mm in length, 1965mm in width and 1200mm in height. It comes with a large ground clearance of 170mm, which is more than sufficient to drive it through Indian roads. The flared wheel arches of the car have been fitted to 20-inch alloy wheels, affixed with 255/35 front tyres and 295/30 rear tyres. The Avanti project cost around Rs 125 crore, and the first deliveries of the sportscar will be commenced around March 2015.
