The second edition of Colombo Night Races saw partial success and was concluded in the Sri Lankan National Capital on December 15, 2012. The organisers had initially planned a total of 13 different races, but only 10 could be ended successfully. The organising body failed to finish the remaining three events and left audience disappointed with the much hyped high performances of GT3 / GT4 racers.

The second edition of 2012 Colombo Night Races witnessed an incredible performance from the local International racer driver Dilantha Malagamuwa, who garnered a comfortable win with a one lap lead in the end. Further, Shiran Samuel was crowned the most outstanding bike rider of the event with double titles in both modified 125 cc and modified over 250 cc bike races. The race witnessed participation from both Indian and Malaysian bike racers.

The events comprised race cars in the form of Formula Mclaren 1300, Volkswagen Polo hatchback, Honda Civic, Toyota Etios and GT3 / GT4 race including Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, Porsche GT3 and Lotus 211 amongst others. The bike races featured Motor Cycle Group 'R' Racing between 100 cc and 125 cc 2 stroke bikes and between 175 cc and 250 cc 4 stroke bikes. Further, one race also saw participants of 'SM' Super Motard Open fighting for the pole.
