Mercedes is busy developing an all-new version of the A-Class, as is evident from the numerous prototypes spotted over the past few months. Based on the car’s spy shots, we have managed to bring you a detailed render of what will be the next A-Class.

Now the current A-Class has an angular looking fascia and a ground-hugging, low stance overall. The forthcoming model, though, will have a significantly stronger road presence with its muscular hood, bigger grille and a sleek pair of headlights.

Codenamed W177, the next A-Class will be built on an all-new platform. The current model, as a matter of fact, is based on the MFA platform which it shares with the B-Class, CLA, GLA and the CLA Shooting brake.  The proportions of the car will remain more or less the same but will follow a new design language. It will also get plenty of new technologies like adaptive cruise control and perhaps even semi-autonomous driving mode.

Like the current model, the new A-Class will be offered with a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The current-gen A-Class, as we know, marked a major step forward for Mercedes and has attracted a huge chunk of young buyers globally. The next-gen A-Class is expected to come out by the end of 2017, possibly at the Frankfurt Motor
