2018 Detroit Auto Show Nissan reveals the XMotion Concept

The XMotion concept looks like a more rugged iteration of the scrawny looking IMx concept from the previous year’s Tokyo Motor Show. It showcases the more rugged and powerful side of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, says the carmaker. The design elements of the XMotion are unlike the current crop of Nissans. The entire new approach to the styling hints at a new design language which differs from their V-Motion design philosophy. The all-terrain rubber wrapped on designer metal wheels contributes to the rugged appearance.

The six-seater configuration of the XMotion is accentuated by wide-opening suicidal doors. The fascia is imposing with LED brawn while the rear is kept minimalistic. The high riding stance could translate into the iconic Patrol or the Nevara styling in the coming years. The cabin is futuristic to say the least using space-age materials while also retaining the old-school wood work. The instrument panel design is a modern interpretation of the traditional Japanese kigumi wood joinery technique. The interior comes loaded with no less than seven digital screens. Three main displays and left and right end displays span the width of the instrument panel. There's also a "digital room mirror" in the ceiling and a centre console display. There are gesture controls for the infotainment system and voice command for the driver. Needless to say, the XMotion boasts of Nissan’s ProPilot autonomous technology. However, there are no details revealed whatsoever on the concept’s powertrain by Nissan.
