Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has released yet another teaser of the new-generation Pajero Sport (Challenger/ Montero Sport) ahead of its global premiere on August 1, 2015 at the Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale. The teaser reveals the exterior details of the vehicle.

The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport features L-shaped LED daytime running lights, ‘Dynamic Shield’ design with the GR-HEV-inspired X-shaped grille, vertically-stacked taillight cluster with LED elements and edgy rear windows design. Features like 8-way adjustable driver seat, steering mounted controls, and 17-inch alloy wheels could also be on offer. The SUV will be based on the ladder-frame platform that also underpins the Mitsubishi Triton.

Power for the 2016 Pajero Sport will come from an all-new 2.4-litre MIVEC diesel engine that is paired to a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission. It’s the same engine that powers the new Triton (L200) pickup. This engine is capable to produce a maximum power of 181PS and 430Nm of torque. Both the 2WD (two-wheel drive), and optional Super Select 4WD system will be on offer. The new Pajero Sport is claimed to be stronger and safer than the existing model, thanks to Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution safety body construction system.

The new-gen Pajero Sport will continue to be imported via CKD route from Thailand to India. Set to rival the upcoming new-gen Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor, the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is expected to be launched in India by end of 2016 or early 2017.
