Mercedes-Benz that recently revealed design sketch of the new GLC, has now released its teaser video in China. The compact SUV will make its global debut today, and will be launched in the European markets in September this year. In India, it will arrive at our shore sometime in 2016.

The teaser video reveals a few exterior and interior details of the car. Based on the MRA rear-wheel-drive platform, the GLC features new LED headlamps with LED DRLs, twin-slat chrome grille, large air inlets, bold shoulder lines, 5-spoke alloy rims, wrap-around horizontal tail lamps, a roof spoiler and dual exhaust system. The interior of the compact SUV looks similar to the C-Class. Though, it has generous rear legroom.

Features like updated Mercedes’ COMAND infotainment system with a free-standing touchscreen with a center tunnel integrated touchpad, ARTICO leather upholstery with silver and wood trim, optional multi-chamber air suspension AIR BODY CONTROL and panoramic sunroof are on offer. The 2016 GLC will feature the same engines that power the C-Class - a 2.0-litre petrol, a 3.5-litre twin turbo V6 petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. A 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission will deliver power to front wheels via a full-time 4MATIC AWD system.

The new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLC will take on the likes of Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and BMW’s upcoming X3. If reports are to be believed, Mercedes will also introduce a performance-oriented GLC AMG Sport with 362bhp, twin-turbo V6 engine and a plug-in hybrid GLC 350e petrol version at a later stage.
