      The all new Skoda Fabia hatchback will be made available in a total of seven engine options in EU nations including four petrol and three diesel engine options. All the engines will comply with the EU6 compliance and will come fitted with a start/stop and kinetic recuperation system. Along with the manual transmission a DSG dual clutch gearbox will also be out on offer. Petrol range of engines comprise of three and four cylinder motors. A new 1.0 litre three pot MPI, direct injection engine is included, while the four cylinder motors will come with turbocharging and stratified injection technology. The 1.2 litre four cylinder engines will be able to develop power output varying between 60 Bhp to 110 Bhp.

      Diesel engines powering the new Skoda Fabia will also get the turbocharging technology and three levels of performance. Boasting a displacement of 1.4 litres, the diesel range of engines will offer power output ranging between 74 Bhp to 103 Bhp. Production of the new Fabia is expected to begin from month end at Mlada Boleslav facility. Rumours were rife that the new Fabia will be conceived on the parent company, Volkswagen’s popular MQB platform, however putting all speculations to rest it has emerged that Fabia will retain the current PQ25 platform.

      The company has proclaimed that it will not include performance oriented vRS version since the demand is low for the trim. The hatchback is expected to be showcased at the upcoming 2014 Paris Motor Show slated to be held in October.
