      The new 2015 Hyundai Verna facelift has been launched in the Indian car market. The sedan has received some required changes, which make it a more appealing model than the previous one. It will take on the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Ford Fiesta and Skoda Rapid, but the closest competitor for the Verna will be the City and Ciaz. While City sedan is ruling the mid-sized sedan segment of the country, the Ciaz is the second best selling product in its league.

      Dimensions

      Hyundai Verna's length has been increased by 5mm, thanks to its new bumper. The sedan measures 4375mm in length, 1700mm in width and 1475mm in height, and it has a wheelbase of 2570mm. On the other hand, the City is 4400mm long, 1695mm wide and 1495mm tall. It comes with a large wheelbase of 2600mm, which in return offers a spacious cabin. With 4490mm in length, the Ciaz saloon is longest of the three. It is 1730mm wide and 1485mm high, and has a large wheelbase of 2650mm.

      The Verna sedan offers a luggage carrying capacity of 465-litres, while the City sedan and Ciaz offers 510-litres of boot.

      Engine Specification

      Hyundai Verna sedan is available with four engine options- a 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and 1.4L CRDi and 1.6L CRDi diesel. While the 1.4L petrol unit is capable of developing 105bhp and 138Nm of torque, the powerful 1.6L unit produces 121bhp of power and 155Nm of torque. The 1.4L CRDi diesel engine is capable of producing 89bhp and 224Nm of torque, while the powerful 1.6L CRDi unit is good for 123PS of power and 259Nm of top torque.

      The petrol version of the Honda City is propelled by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC unit that churns out a maximum power output of 117bhp and a peak torque of 145Nm. Its oil burner is the 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit that is good for 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. The Maruti Ciaz is also available in petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol unit is the 1.4-litre motor that produces 91bhp of power and 130Nm of torque, the oil burner is the 1.3-litre multi-jet unit that is good for 89bhp and 200Nm of torque.

      Price:

      The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan petrol's base variant is priced at Rs. 7.21 lakh, while the top-end model costs Rs 9.64 lakh.On the other hand, the new 4S Fluidic Verna's prices start at Rs. 7.74 lakh and goes up to Rs. 12.20 lakh. The Honda City petrol is priced in the range of Rs. 7.53 lakh to Rs. 11.43 lakh, while the diesel model is priced between Rs Rs. 8.75 lakh and Rs. 11.54 lakh. (All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.)
