As the month of November came to an end, major bike manufacturers released their respective sales figures. Yamaha Motor India announced its sales figures for November 2014 in which the company reported a 27.9 per cent growth as sales of the two-wheelers stood at 57160 units in November 2013 as opposed to 44688 units sold in November 2012. Furthermore, the domestic sales for Yamaha in India grew by 6.5 per cent at 39777 units opposed to the last year's performance of 37344 units in the same month.

Acknowledging this performance, Yamaha Motor India, Vice President (Sales and Marketing), Roy Kurian, said “We are very pleased with our consistent sales performance this year at a 34 per cent average sales growth that can be attributed to our strong product portfolio, upbeat customer confidence and new launches in the scooter segment."

He later on added that the company is optimistic about the performance of special edition models of FZ series and new scooters like Ray Precious Edition and Ray Z. Adding further, Kurian said, “The scooter segment has also caught on and is expected to be the growth driver for the two-wheeler industry. All this makes us quite confident about continuing our growth story in the coming months as well."

“We are very happy with the consistent sales growth that we have been witnessing this year. The new YZF-R15 Version 2.0 along with FZ and SZ series is driving our sales in both domestic and export markets," India Yamaha Motor Director (Sales and Marketing) Jun Nakata said. At present, the product line-up of Yamaha Motor India consists of Fazer, FZ-S, FZ, SZ-X, SZ-R and SZ-RR, YZF-R15, SS125, YBR 125, YBR 110, Crux and Ray, Ray Z Scooters. Its import portfolio includes VMAX, YZF-R1 and FZ1. Reportedly, Yamaha Motor India is planning to raise its market share in Tier II and III cities by opening new dealership stores in these regions.

The company has also engaged in garnering the attention of Indian buyers through the use of various initiatives. Recently the company started a cricket league in order to attract higher levels of customer engagement. Meanwhile, this year has been quite good for major two-wheeler companies as they have registered significant growth. Major car companies like Honda and Hero MotoCorp are likely to end the year on a high as they demand for their bikes have increased to a good extent. While on the other hand, TVS Motors continued its dismal showing in the Indian market as the demand for its two-wheelers further plummeted.
