Nissan is currently producing 3,000 units of Terrano every month at the Oragadam facility. This means that customers who seek to place an order post the launch of Terrano will now have to wait for around 2 months for delivery in lieu of 6,000 pre-bookings that have been made earlier. Many experts are of the opinion that pre-bookings received by Terrano can be fairly attributed to the way that the auto company has segmented its newly launched utility vehicle brilliantly. Incidentally, even the base model of Terrano comes equipped with a driver airbag as standard.

Terrano could prove to be the best re-badged vehicle that is developed under the alliance between Nissan-Renault. Notably, designers of Nissan have done extremely well to come up with a distinct and appealing look for Terrano. As such, expectations of its manufacturer are also very high. Nissan India President Kenichiro Yomura also hinted about the same thing when he said, “Terrano is an important product for us and will set the pace for future product launches slated for 2014..."

Quite notably, Nissan Terrano is the first locally manufactured compact utility vehicle from Nissan for Indian customers. This utility vehicle comes with two engine options, petrol and diesel. While the petrol version is powered by a K4M petrol mill, the diesel variant derives its propulsion power from a powerful K9K diesel powertrain. Furthermore, the diesel engine variants come with two different power outputs, 108 bhp and 83 bhp.

The retail price of the newly launched Nissan Terrano starts from 9.58 lakh. According to sources, a company official, present at the time of Terrano's launch, reportedly said, “Terrano product range include seven variants with three engine options. Terrano price range to start from Rs. 9.58 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). Since the unveil (last month), pre-sales bookings are around 6,000 units.”

Exteriors, especially the front fascia of Terrano, are something to look for. It got an elegance that seldom fails to attract customers and car enthusiasts. With a distinct front grille embellished with lot of chrome and perky headlights and fog lamps, this new car model is definitely high on style quotient. A masculine overall appearance result in a bolder stance to Terrano as compared to its sibling Duster. Other distinctive modifications are protruding wheel arches and restyled tailgate. This utility vehicle offers a safe on-road drive with dual front SRP airbags, fog lamps, rear parking sensors, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) with Brake Assist (BA). The ground clearance of Terrano is 205 mm, which allows it to rule uneven terrains with utmost ease and comfort. For carrying luggage, there is a boot space of 475 litres.

Many experts believe that Nissan Terrano will do well in the Indian automobile market. The current waiting time of 2 months for a successful delivery due to pre-booking does suggest the same thing. However, the auto company has to closely monitor the demand and supply ratio, for if the lag between the two somehow increases then customers might get tempted to other utility vehicles in the same space.
