Volvo Car Corporation, the Sweden based leading automaker is developing new safety technologies to avoid deaths or serious injuries with the help of autonomous driving technology and collision detection system. Volvo has emerged as a globally acclaimed auto brand for showcasing high concern towards the safety standards fabricated in its cars.
Volvo is endeavouring to accomplish the development by 2020 and the cars badged under its name will incorporate three new safety enhancing technologies comprising of autonomous support for driving ease, intersection support along with animal detection system.
With the well equipped cameras and radar, the autonomous driving support aims at comfortable escorting through the traffic. It can effectively and fiercely detect the movement of the car in front with its braking pattern and movement of direction. On noticing an impending threat, the autonomous driving support activates the car’s engine, brakes and steering to protect the passenger from the threat. The driving support also ensures that the car is in the right lane.
On detection of a collision with the aid of in-built sensors, the intersection support technology uses the car brakes aptly to avoid it. This system not only aims at dealing with the driver’s untimely action but also deals with other car driver’s mistakes too. The support is designed to initiate quick and timely action avoiding any delay from the driver’s end.
Volvo’s pedestrian detection system steps ahead with animal detection technology that instantly uses the car brakes on detection of an animal. The braking system can detect the presence of animals from a distance ranged up to 30 metres.
