Volvo is going to launch the 2017 XC60 in India before the end of this year. Volvo plans to locally assemble the XC60 at its facility in Bengaluru, although the initial batch might be imported as completely built units.

Volvo confirms plans for new XC60

The XC60 will be offered only in the fully-loaded Inscription trim. This variant features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder D5 diesel engine delivering 235bhp and 470Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed ZF gearbox. Eventually, the company might also launch the 190bhp D4 diesel in India. The XC60 features a slew of sophisticated safety features, typical in a Volvo car, like steer assist, oncoming lane mitigation, blind spot indication system and pilot assist.

This will be the second new Volvo product for India this year, the first being the S60 Polestar. Apart from the XC60, we also expect the XC90 R-design and the V90 Cross Country to be introduced here this year. The XC60 will rival the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Expect it to be priced between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 55 lakh.
