Swedish car major, Volvo has come up with a new concept car, called XC Coupe. What makes this car more exclusive form the company's lot is that it is claimed to be a unique fusion of a sportscar along with the iconic safety features of Volvo. The same will be perceived in the meticulous designing of this car which has been derived from Volvo's new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). Company claims that it will be a modern sophisticated car and will be liked by people living with superior lifestyle.

Senior Vice President, Designing, Volvo Car Group, Thomas Ingenlath said in this regard, “Those who love gravity sports freely seek new thrills and challenges. To ensure that they make it back in one piece, they prefer high-performance equipment that offers the ultimate sense of freedom and protection.” He further added by quoting “The Volvo Concept XC Coupé is perfectly in tune with this active lifestyle. Its capability and protection is cleverly integrated into the sophisticated looks. Concept XC Coupé is ready and willing to bring you into the adventure zone and back.”

Reports are suggesting that the new prototype will be much more nimble on roads and safer inside, as against the company's existing models. Also, it comprises the new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) of Volvo which the company states is a blend of the proportions, confident stance and most prominent design signatures. “Concept XC Coupé also shows how clever engineering makes it possible for us to reinforce our world-leading safety without compromising design, size or weight. Thanks to the extensive use of high-strength boron steel and structures with new, ingenious decoupling, we can make SPA cars more compact and safer at the same time,” says Ingenlath.

The four-seater, two-door Volvo Concept XC Coupé strongly resembles with its sibling, Volvo Concept Coupé. However, some tweaked features of large 21-inch wheels, elegant wheel-arches and lofty roofline partition the duo, making the XC Coupe look much more dynamic and ravishing. Furthermore, a wider distance between front axle of the car and dashboard is a distinguishing feature. Assisting them are features of an upgraded front bonnet and redesigned beltline, spreading across the car's layout. Reports are suggesting that this concept is expected to display a proper sports gear which will be designed with latest technology to comply with the likes of gravity sports athletes. Commenting on further tweaks in car, Ingenlath says, “Several orange details and exterior graphics in combination with bold use of matte rubber mouldings, which cover the rear end of the car, add to the highly functional expression of the design.”

It must be noted that Volvo has implemented small characteristics of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in this concept, to keep up with modern day requirements of prospective consumers. Provisions of skid plates, side mouldings and robust outlook makes this car inherit some SUV features. Also, the new T-shaped Daytime Running Lights from the car maker will be employed in this car. A similar attribute can also be seen in Volvo Concept Coupé. Describing the futuristic strategies of the company, Ingenlath further added by saying, “Both concept cars show how we can shape our cars from now on. We add emotional value to the Volvo brand with the calm, confident beauty that is the hallmark of Scandinavian design.” The promises seem intriguing and it will be ecstatic to witness these prototypes on roads.
