The Indian subsidiary of luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce has registered a seven-fold increase in its sales in year 2010. The company managed to sell 70 cars during the year as compared to the sales of just 10 cars in year 2009.

“India has grown seven-fold since last year,” said Mr. Brenda Pek, general manager, South & East Asia Pacific, Rolls-Royce Cars. In this growth, the company had registered a considerable rise in the demand for its cars from Tier-II cities. “In 2010, we witnessed demand from Tier II cities in the north and south of India,” Pek said.

At present, Rolls Royce India has two dealerships in the country including one each in Delhi and Mumbai.

Rolls Royce Ghost, company’s latest offering in the Indian market, accounted for a considerable number of sales during the year. Film Actor Sanjay Datt had recently gifted a brand new Ghost model to his Wife Manyata. The super luxury Ghost model is currently available in the price range of Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 3 crore.

“Almost 80% of Ghost buyers are new to the brand, and we are seeing more lady owners. Our Indian customers appreciate Ghost as an everyday car which they can use to drive themselves as well as be chauffeured in,” Mr. Pek said.
