Tata Motors is reaping fruits of its hard work put in development of its new vehicle Zest. Launched in India on August 12, 2014 at prelusive price of Rs 4.64 lakhs the vehicle has received gush of bookings. Within 20 days of its launch, Zest has roped in massive bookings of 10,000 units. The President of Passenger Vehicle segment, Tata Motors, Mr. Ranjit Yadav confirmed it on Twitter.
Diesel variant offered in automated manual transmission is currently attracting waiting period of 3 months, while waiting period for petrol variant stands at 4 to 6 weeks. This clearly shows that demand for diesel variant is more than petrol powered Zest. Compact sedan segment is India is among the fastest growing vehicle division that has witnessed massive growth in last few years. From a handful of choices, the CS segment now has a variety of vehicles to choose from including Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Accent and Tata Zest.
Available in both petrol and diesel engine options, Tata Zest petrol is employed with newly developed 1.2 litre Revotron, turbocharged petrol engine. The petrol engine develops top power output of 90 PS along with peak torque of 140 Nm. Diesel version gets 1.3 litre Quadrajet diesel powertrain outputting varied power outputs of 75 PS and 90 PS. The 75 PS version of diesel engine also generates top torque of 190 Nm while the 90 PS engine engenders peak torque of 200 Nm. Petrol and diesel engines are synchronized to a five-speed manual gearbox while the AMT gearbox is offered only on the top-of-the-line variant of diesel Zest. Tata Motors is now readying to roll out its second new product in India dubbed Bolt that was exhibited along with Zest at the 2014 Auto Expo held earlier this year.
