      Tata Motors sells 49,304 units in May 2013

      Tata Motors, the country's largest auto maker, has come up with its sales figures for the month of May 2013. Including exports, the total sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles stood at 49,304 units, whereas the domestic sales of the company were 45,430 vehicles. The cumulative sales, including exports, for the auto maker for the entire fiscal accounted for 1,00,464 units. Coming to the sales of company's commercial vehicles in the domestic market during the period, the figures stood at 34,296 units, wherein Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) accounted for 24,173 units and M&HCV were 10,123 vehicles.

      In domestic market, the cumulative sales of commercial vehicles for the fiscal accounted for 70,321 units, including 50,196 units of LCV and 20,125 units of M&HCV. The sales for company's passenger vehicles during May 2013 stood at 11,134 units. The demand for Nano, Indica and Indigo range were 8,927 units, whereas the sales figures of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture range were 2,207 units.The cumulative sales in passenger vehicle segment stood at 22,704 units, which included 17,845 units of Nano, Indica and Indigo, and 4,859 units of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture range.

      Coming to the exports of Tata Motors, 3,874 units were shipped in May 2013, whereas the cumulative sales for the entire fiscal from exports were 7,439 units. It must be noted that Tata Motors earned a consolidated revenue of Rs. 1,88,818 crores ($ 34.7 billion) in fiscal 2013. with the help of its associate companies and sub divisions, the auto maker has started its operations in South Korea, UK, Thailand, Spain, South Africa and Indonesia. Among the sub divisions of Tata Motors, a major name in automotive industry comes up, Jaguar Land Rover. Interestingly, the auto maker also has an industrial joint venture in India with the Italian company Fiat. With more than 7.5 million Tata vehicles running on India roads, the auto maker has turned itself as India's market leader in commercial vehicles and is also counted among the top passenger vehicle makers.
