Suzuki is planning to offer Swift hatchback in a new 1.2 litre petrol engine option in UK market. The 1.2 litre variant could be launched in UK in the beginning of next year. Making the 1.2 litre special is the latest Dualjet technology bestowed on the powertrain that comes with two fuel injectors, making it more frugal. This would in turn enhance fuel economy by 16 per cent at 65.7 mpg (23.2 kmpl) on the EC Combined fuel consumption cycle.

Under this Dueljet technology fuel injectors re placed very close to the engine inlet valves that permits improved fuel atomisation that leads to more efficacious transfer into the cylinder. Further tweaks made to the engine include a new kind of port and combustion chamber, few other mechanical parts have also been revised that cause reduction in frictional losses and enable improved ride quality.

Following tweaks eventuate increased compression ratio of 12.0:1 as compared to 11.0:1 for the present engine.

Power output has been decreased by 4 Bhp from 93 Bhp to 89 Bhp, however on the contrary torque level has been upped to 120 Nm. Other modifications comprise of tweaked gear ratios resulting in improved fuel efficiency, stop/start system.
