      Second Plant from Toyota in Bangalore

      Every car maker in India has expansion plans lined up for the coming few years. The current economic factors have not dampened the spirits of the car makers in India to stop investing in their manufacturing units. BMW, Volkswagen, Maruti, Bajaj have already invested millions of rupees in their new manufacturing units.

      Now Toyota is coming up with its second manufacturing unit in Bangalore. It has its manufacturing unit in Hoser that produces 60,000 units annually. Now it has ambitious plans to invest Rs 1400 crores to setup its second unit to increase its manufacturing capacity to 1 lakh units annually. The plant shall be completely operational by 2010.

      The Japanese car maker, Toyota Motors Corporation, has a joint venture with Kirlosker in India as Toyota Kirlosker Motor Private Limited. It currently manufactures Innova and Camry in India at its plant in Hoser. TKM plans to capture 10 percent of the Indian car market by 2010.
