It has been a while since a mysterious Renault compact SUV prototype was spotted testing. Rumours suggest that the compact SUV is based on the CMF platform, and is likely to be unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Now, the fresh news suggests that the French maker is contemplating a sedan, a small SUV and an MPV on the company’s low-cost CAMM platform. This is the same platform which also underpins the much-awaited Renault XBA small car, which is scheduled to go on sale in India in mid-2015.
Interestingly, all four products will come under the 4 metre body length and will target developing nations including India, Brazil and Argentina. The XBA small car will be the first product based on the new platform, and is expected to be launched in India next year.
The Renault XBA small car is developed by Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre in India, and will soon enter production line at the company’s Oragadam facility near Chennai. The other three products are still in the market study phase, and are expected to enter for design and development phase after the final decision made by higher authorities. With all products likely to be sub-4 metre in length, we expect all models to come India.
