The Renault Duster petrol automatic (CVT) has been launched in India at Rs 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The carmaker has replaced the 1.6-litre petrol motor with a new 1.5-litre mill.

The Duster CVT is cosmetically different than its regular manual variants. The petrol automatic differentiates itself thanks to the blacked out grille, additional decals on the door and boot along with the prominent X-Tronic badging. This is the new RxS variant only available as a petrol automatic model.

The new petrol engine in question is a 1.5-litre H4K four-cylinder mill that produces 106bhp of power and 142Nm of torque. It comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard with the CVT transmission on offer in the RxS trim. The manual variants get a claimed fuel efficiency of 14.19kmpl and the RxS CVT trim is rated at 14.99kmpl.

In addition, Renault has also made some changes on specific variants. The RxL manual variant and the new RxS automatic now get steering-mounted audio controls, eco mode, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and a trip computer. Also, the RxL variant gets a gearshift indicator and the RxS CVT version comes equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, but without the sat-nav feature.

Until now, what the Indian market needed was a petrol automatic version of the Renault Duster. Now that the carmaker has introduced this, it will compete against the 122bhp 1.6-litre Hyundai Creta petrol AT and the 119bhp 1.6-litre Honda BR-V petrol AT in our country.
