Maruti Suzuki's recently launched Baleno has been the centre of attraction in the hatchback segment. New-age styling, features and lucrative introductory price starting at Rs 4.99 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) has instantly helped it climb charts. Dealers have revealed that booking one now could mean the vehicle would be delivered in January 2016.

The dealers have reported high demand across all petrol and diesel trims along with demand for the automatic petrol variant as well. As the vehicles had been launched for an introductory price tag, it is also believed that the company may soon hike the prices across trims. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is indeed the first car in its segment to offer DRLs as standard apart from ABS with EBD and dual front airbags.

Under the hood the petrol trim gets a 1.2-litre VVT engine that generates about 83bhp of power and 115Nm of torque. The diesel version on the other hand gets a 1.3-litre DDiS 190 engine that effectively returns about 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. Maruti claims an impressive mileage figure of about 21.4km/l in petrol, while diesel reportedly returns about 27.39km/l. Apart from manual variants, the Baleno is also offered with CVT in petrol version. Baleno is offered in four trims - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
