      Recalls by JLR for Range Rover Evoque and Discovery 2 in the US

      70 units of Jaguar Land Rover's high selling models, the Discovery 2 and the Range Rover Evoque in the US have been recalled, due to faulty brakes. All of these vehicles were built on 11th June 2012. The fault will be rectified free of cost, and this recall is expected to begin no later than 18th January 2013, which is the date given by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

      Reportedly, the retaining bolts on the rear brake callipers have been fitted incorrectly, leading to a loss of braking due to detachment of these callipers or damage to the steering wheel. Some customers have given a feedback of abnormal brake noise from the rear of the vehicle while driving, or during application of service brakes, to Jaguar Land Rover. It is said that the damaged calliper is also capable of damaging a rear tyre upon detachment, which could lead to an accident.

      This recall will be affecting models only in the US market, and not those sold in any other part of the world. The Evoque is the smallest model in the Range Rover stable, at 4355 mm. It is also 100 kg lighter than the Freelander, and available in attractive new colours. In the US, the Evoque can be purchased for USD 43,995 which is equivalent to Rs. 22.87 lakhs. A 2.2 litre engine is used in this tiny beast, the same as the one for the Freelander.
