Jaguar-Land Rover will be offering another class apart vehicle, the Evoque Crossover SUV, to the Indian market, in the coming few hours. The Range Rover Evoque SUV is set to break its cover in the country at around 2 pm today. During the initial stages, the irresistible new crossover will be built and assembled completely before it lands on the Indian soil. Subsequently, it will carry a price tag, considerably, higher than its close competitors like, BMW X3 and Audi Q5. However, during the next year or so, Jaguar-Land Rover is expected to assemble the Evoque at the assembly unit at Chikli, Pune that was formerly used by Mercedes-Benz.

Local assembly would indeed help the car maker to bring down the price of the Evoque significantly. Though, at the outset, buyers who are interested in purchasing this radical looking crossover SUV will have to spend around Rs. 50 lacs and the price may go up to Rs. 63 lacs. The Range Rover Evoque will be available in both petrol and diesel engines.

A 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine unit would be assembled with a direct injection and variable valve timing, possessing the ability to deliver a peak power of 240 hp and a peak torque of 340 Nm. On the other hand, the common rail diesel engine will carry enough strength top generate a peak power of 190 hp and a peak torque of 420 Nm. The diesel engine model would be available as the base variant of the crossover, being priced at around Rs. 50 lacs. 6-speed automatic transmissions and a full time all-wheel drive would find a place in all variants of the Evoque.

Both the petrol and the diesel models of Range Rover Evoque will be introduced in 3 variants each, namely, Pure, Prestige and Dynamic. To offer maximum safety, features like 6 airbags, ABS and ESP et al will be carried by the complete range of the crossover SUV. The highly-popular and effective Terrain Response system, too, would be present in the Evoque. Under this feature, the 4 user selectable modes will deal with different terrain conditions and offer the maximum grip and unmatched drivability. As a mater of fact, Land Rover has been struggling with the supply of Evoque, as the demand for the crossover has been quite high across the world.

According to sources, around 50 units of the Evoque have been targeted for sales in the Indian market. Thus, the first set of customers, who have already booked or will book the crossover SUV, are ought to get their Evoques on time.

Thus, with Jaguar-Land Rover dealers in India already taking orders for the Evoque, the Indian auto market would soon be competing more furiously with other countries of the world.
