Fooling around with a nursery rhyme proved to be a costly affair to popular television show BBC Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson. Daily Mirror in UK has reportedly obtained a copy of Series 19 of Top Gear which was not aired by BBC. The video dates back to around 2 years ago when Jeremy Clarkson recited the offensive version of the nursery rhyme as "eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a 'nigger' by the toe." A new video has been released by him in this regard asking for a public apology for the same.

Reportedly the rhyme was recited by Clarkson while giving out his point of view on the Toyota and Subaru vehicles. Initially he denied using the word in the rhyme on social networking platform Twitter stating, “I did not use the N-word. Never use it. The Mirror has gone way too far this time.” When the allegations seemed to based on strong facts, Clarkson came out with a public apology video stating, “Now when I viewed this footage several weeks later, I realized that in one of the mumbled versions, if you listened very carefully with the sound turned right up, it did appear that I'd actually used the word I was trying to obscure. I was mortified by this, horrified. It is a word I loathe, and I did everything in my power to make sure that that version did not appear in the program that was transmitted.” he further added, “Please be assured that I did everything in my power to not use that word, and I am sitting here begging your forgiveness for the fact that obviously my efforts weren't quite good enough. Thank you.”

Initially it was believed that BBC may sack him over repeatedly finding himself in the middle of every controversy, but he may be let off this time with a strong warning this time around. A statement released by BBC states, “Jeremy Clarkson has set out the background to this regrettable episode. We have made it absolutely clear to him, the standards the BBC expects on air and off. We have left him in no doubt about how seriously we view this.”
