Peugeot in Japan has added a new top of the line variant to its 308 stable called the 308 GTi and prices start at 3,850,000 Japanese Yen (Rs 23.54 lakh).
In a nut shell, the 308 GTi is a five door hatchback that’s inspired by the Peugeot Sport division and has been given performance enhancements along with sporty interiors and exteriors in a bid to set your pulse racing. The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine will be available in two states of tune; 250bhp and 270bhp with 330Nm of torque. These versions are termed 308 GTi 250 which will cost 3,850,000 yen (Rs 23.54 lakh), and the 308 GTi 270 that will retail at 4,360,000 yen (Rs 26.66 lakh).
While a six-speed manual gearbox takes care of transmitting horsepower to the wheels, the beefed up suspension now incorporates a limited slip differential. Large diameter 380mm front discs with four pod calipers (finished in red) are offered on this version. Also seen are dual exhausts, a front grille that mimics a checkered flag and huge intakes on either side of the front bumper.
