Patrick Dempsey, who plays neuro surgeon in the famous TV show “Grey's Anatomy” turned real life hero on 27th March 2012 after he saved the life of a teenager from a car wreck. The victim, Weston Masset's mustang rolled over while driving near the star's home in Malibu, California.

On witnessing the accident from the confinements of his home, the 46-year old film star rushed outside and pried open the doors of the car with a crowbar. He then pulled out the unconscious teenager and waited for the paramedics to arrive on the scene. Masset had a lucky escape; he suffered a concussion and a minuscule eye injury but escaped any serious injuries.

It is reported that when asked by the Weston Masset if he is famous, Dempsey replied, “I am a doctor” referring to his own screen character of Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd.

With this event, the famed actor proved to be a real time hero and come up with as another celebrity who is not scared to face danger, if it involves saving the life of fellow citizen.

Soon after, the show-runner of another famous TV show “The Shield”, Shawn Ryan tweeted, “ True Story: Grey's Anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey pulled my friend's son out of overturned car after bad accident on Tuesday.. #Good Dude”

Weston was heard saying, “I was scared for my life, I was upside down.”

Patrick Dempsey is quite familiar with car crashes as he spends much of his leisure time racing cars.

Recently the actor also faced “Twitter death hoax” when the RIP Patrick Dempsey circulated over the micro-blogging site. He quickly tweeted, “Hi I am back from dead.” to nullify any rumours.
