Growing demand for cars with AMT has been encouraging carmakers to introduce such cars in the country. Earlier this year, Renault introduced the new Duster with an optional Easy-R AMT gearbox in the RxL and RxZ variants. The Nissan Terrano built on a similar platform will soon get the same Easy-R AMT gearbox to boost its sales and stay abreast with competition in the country.

Under the hood, the Nissan Terrano is currently powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine which generates 104bhp of power and 145Nm of torque, while its diesel variant is powered by a 1.5-litre engine in two tunes – 85bhp and 110bhp. As seen in the new Duster, the Terrano is also expected to get the AMT transmission upgrade on its 110bhp variant. This could also mean using the safer CMO10 engine compartment and T4 electrical and electronics architecture.

Nissan is not expected to come up with fresh design upgrades for the exterior, however the interior is expected to get minor upgrades in the form of revised upholstery. As for features, the new Terrano might also get touchscreen music system with navigation and automatic climate control. It is likely the automaker will introduce the new Terrano variant sometime during the festive season this year. To enhance sales of the current lot, the company is offering benefits of up to Rs 80,000 along with a special interest rate of about 7.99 per cent.
