After the success story of Nissan Micra, the Japanese car maker is now planning to bring an entry level sedan model Nissan Sunny to the Indian market. Nissan had developed a brand new V-platform especially designed to churn out cars for the emerging markets. Nissan Micra, the hatchback variant launched in India in August, was the first model to roll out from this platform. Now the second model, an entry level sedan, Nissan Sunny is getting ready especially for China and India. The model is expected around Diwali next year.

According to the reports, the new Nissan Sunny will be powered by 1.6L petrol engine and a 1.5L diesel engine. The final brand name for the model especially for the Indian market has yet not been finalised. It still remains uncertain whether the model will be sold as Nissan Sunny because the name is already registered with Bajaj Auto for its scooterette in India.

The new Nissan Sunny will compete with models like Ford Fiesta, Maruti Swift Dzire and newly launched VW Vento and Toyota Etios sedan.
