The 2018 Nissan Micra is launched in India at Rs 5.03 lakhs. The hatchback gets a few more features and rejigged trim levels.

With the 2018MY update, the Micra is available in just two trims – XL O and XV – across two engine options. It also now gets dual front airbags as standard along with rear parking sensors, seat belt warning and speed warning device. The XV trim also gets a rearview camera and turn indicators on OVRMs and a petite rear spoiler. Also part of the update is a 6.2-inch touchscreen with navigation and smartphone connectivity in the XV trim. Even NissanConnect is available only in the higher XV variant.

Commenting on the launch of the 2018 Micra, Hardeep Singh Brar, director, Nissan Motor India said, with a fusion of European styling and Japanese technology, the Micra is Nissan’s most popular models in over 100 countries. Catering to the needs of Indian consumers for a safer, interactive and a more intelligent driving experience, we have introduced the more intelligent and sportier Nissan Micra with a host of features addressing these needs.”

The mechanicals remains unchanged. So the Micra continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 76bhp and 104Nm of torque and the 1.5-litre diesel mill producing 64bhp and 160Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via five-speed manual gearbox in the diesel while the petrol is only available with Nissan’s X-Tronic CVT transmission. The updated Micra continues to rival B-segment hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo. Prices have slightly increased over the outgoing model.
