      Mahindra-S201-spied

Mahindra S201, the codename for the upcoming compact SUV from the Indian car manufacturer has been spotted on test. Based on the Ssangyong Tivoli, the S201 was spotted testing beside the recently christened Marazzo MPV. Due for launch later this year, the S201 is expected to compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport.

As compared to the Tivoli which measures 4,195mm in length, the S201 is expected to get a redesigned C-Pillar and a tweaked fascia, to keep it well under the 4,000mm mark and qualify for small car GST benefits. The vehicle is also expected to be offered with a new set of tail lamps, silver skid plate and revised bumpers. As seen in test mule images from the past, the vehicle is also expected to be offered with wraparound headlamps, horizontal foglamps and integrated LED DRLs and turn indicators.

Although more details for the interior is not known, for now, the vehicle is expected to be offered with a dual tone dashboard, a new steering wheel and a modern instrument console. The vehicle is also expected to be offered with a large touchscreen infotainment system and will get features like engine start/stop button and cruise control.

Under the hood, the S201 is expected to be powered by the 1.2-litre G80 turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The engines will be offered in manual and AMT transmission options.
