      Nissan India records impressive sales in August 2012, growth marks 185.6 per cent

      Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL), the well-acclaimed Japanese auto maker, has registered its sales figures at 3953 units with a whopping jump of 185.6 per cent for the month of August 2012. The comparison was made under the review of sales recorded in year-ago period, wherein the figures stood at 1384 units, which clearly indicates the increasing penchant of buyers toward the models introduced by Nissan in the Indian auto industry.

      Interestingly, a major chunk in the total sales of the company was accounted by its entry-level sedan Sunny and Micra hatchback, whose demand stood at 3944 units. The sales of remaining 7 units were together constituted by its luxury sedan Teana, X-trail Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and 370Z cult sports car.

      Expressing his views on the company's performance, the General Manager of NMIPL, Takayuki Ishida, quoted, “It is extremely encouraging to see the made-in-India Sunny going from strength to strength within the market. Our commitment and focus is on introducing more locally-produced models that offer increased value to our customers.”

      In its fleet of five models, the company is planning to make an add-on with the launch of a new urban class Utility Vehicle (UV) Evalia, which will sparkle at the Indian showrooms by the end of September 2012. Commenting on the positive sales chart movement, Director in Marketing and Sales, Hover Automotive India (HAI), (Nissan’s sole Indian distributor), Nitish Tipnis, said, “We are seeing a steady increase in our sales month-on-month. We look forward for the sales to start reviving during the festival season.”

      The official dealership network of Nissan Motors in India is expanding swiftly, remaining parallel with the plans of auto major. In August this year, the company declared the inauguration of new facilities in Chandigarh, Mumbai, Ludhiana and Noida, which took the Nissan's total dealership count to more than 73.
