Nissan India on December 13, 2012, announced that the prices of its Indian portfolio of cars would be hiked from January, 2013. The company has decided to revise upwards the prices of cars because of rising input costs, inflation and unfavourable exchange rates. Apart from Nissan, many other car makers like Maruti Suzuki India, luxury car makers Mercedes-Benz and BMW too have decided to increase the prices of their models. The reasons cited by them too are the same as that by Nissan.

Nissan, the Japanese auto maker, offers cars with advanced technology and innovative design to the customers. The car maker started its operations in India in 2005 and since then has constantly delivered innovative and superior products, which include cars in hatchbacks, SUV, sports car and sedan segment. Its three models, Micra, Sunny and Evalia have been highly appreciated in the country and have done good business in India so far.

Though, the car maker has decided to increase the prices of its models, the company has, however, not given any indication about the amount by which the prices would be hiked. While the buyers stayed away from buying petrol cars in the year 2012 owing to fuel price hike, the year 2013 would not be any relaxing for the car enthusiasts as the prices of almost all the cars is almost certain to go up.
