Tata Motors is seeking help of its British subsidiary Jaguar and Land Rover to build more refined variants of its popular models Nano, Indica and Indigo CS. As per the statement from PM Telang, MD, Tata Motors (India Operations), the company needs to improve its cars in terms of fits, finish, noise and vibration and design elements. It feels that its British counterpart can help develop such cars.

Telang also talked about future plans of the company but refused to divulge details of any new models slated for launch in the country or in the global market. He said that Tata Motors will individually assess each market and market segment and see if the product suits them.

Telang also commented on recent incident of Tata Nano catching fire in Delhi. “We invited a group of engineers from JLR to join 20 engineers from Tata Motors and forensic experts and examine the Nano closely. They did a thorough job and came to the conclusion that there's no design problems or faulty components with the Nano and that the instances of the car catching fire are stray instances.”
