Tata Motors is trying hard to restore sales of its compact hatchback Nano in the Indian auto market. Earlier, the auto company introduced Tata Nano eMax CNG model and this time around, it seems all set to introduce the new Tata Nano Twist. This new version of Nano will come with much-awaited power steering wheel option. According to the information available from various sources, this updated variant will be launched in the market on 15th January, 2014. The inclusion of power steering feature also means that this compact hatchback will be costlier than the currently available top variant of Nano by Rs. 15,000.

Tata Nano was introduced in the Indian auto market as people's car owing to its high affordability. However, as the time passed, sales statistics revealed that this passenger car did not get what it intended initially. Thus, Tata Motors has been making all necessary efforts to revive the sales of Nano. After the launch of this hatchback in India, the auto maker is likely to focus on bringing the diesel version of Nano. According to experts, the new Nano Twist is likely to do well in the country's passenger car market as the power steering wheel will enhance manoeuvrability while driving on city roads.

Currently, Tata Nano comes equipped with a 624 cc, 2-cylinder, MPFI engine, which has the potential to churn out a maximum power of 36 bhp with peak torque of 51 Nm. With this configuration, it can reach a maximum speed of 105 kmph. This compact hatchback has a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres and a minimum turning radius of 4 metres. Its ground clearance is of 180 mm, which is quite impressive seeing that Nano is an entry level hatchback. In terms of competition, Tata Nano is getting a stiff rivalry from Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. So, it will be quite interesting to see if Tata Nano Twist can bring about a twist in its so far pale story.
