New Skoda Superb interiors revealed

Skoda, the Czech automaker, will unveil the much-awaited 2016 new Skoda Superb saloon at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Ahead of its official premiere, the company has released the interiors of the luxurious saloon. The vehicle is expected to be launched this year in international markets, while India launch is expected by early next year. Inspired by the Vision C concept, the 2016 Superb sedan previews the company’s new design philosophy.

Based on the versatile Volkswagen MQB platform that also underpins the new generation Passat saloon, the new Superb saloon is claimed to offer spacious interiors and is loaded with high end features. High quality materials and premium features are visible on the saloon. The interior images show that the cabin is inspired from the MQB Octavia; however, the company has made slight changes to its styling and colour. It features new steering wheel with leather cladding. The centre console gets a touchscreen interface and other switch gears.

Unlike the B8 Passat, the Skoda Superb saloon length has been increased by up to 20mm while the wheelbase is raised by 80mm. The increase in wheelbase will result into a spacious cabin. Thanks to its MQB platform, the new saloon is around 75kg less than the predecessor. Under the bonnet, the new Superb saloon will be offered with turbocharged petrol and diesel motors. While the petrol version is propelled by a 1.8-litre TSI unit that is good for 175bhp and 250Nm of top torque, the oil burner is tried & tested 2.0-litre TDI unit that churns out a maximum power output of 148bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm. The petrol engines will be coupled to a seven-speed twin-clutch DSG automatic gearbox, while the diesel engine is paired to a six-speed twin-clutch DSG automatic gearbox. The base variant of the sedan is likely to be paired to a six-speed manual gearbox.
