Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce new MPV that will replace its existing model Versa. According to the speculations, the product may be launched at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2010 in January. "We will be launching a new van by the end of this fiscal. This vehicle will replace the Versa, whose production has already been stopped," said Maruti Suzuki India Managing Executive Officer (Engineering) I. V. Rao.

Prices or technical details of the new MPV model are not available so far and are expected to be revealed only during the Delhi Auto Expo. Industry experts expect the price to be around Rs. 6-8 lakh. Maruti is already believed to be working on a model codenamed as O2 at its Gurgaon plant. The new model may be christened as Eco when launched but so far there is no new information about actual launch of the product.

On the other hand, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi has invited Maruti Suzuki to set up its export-oriented manufacturing unit in the state and to use Mundra port for the exports. Maruti is already exporting A-star to Europe from the Mundra port. Maruti recently opened its technical training institute at Gajadara.
