      New Mahindra XUV500 - Variants detailed

      The much awaited 2018 Mahindra XUV500 has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 12.32 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new model is now available in two new colour options – crimson red and mystic copper, apart from the regular shades of opulent purple, volcano black, lake-side brown, pearl white and moondust silver. The popular seven-seat SUV is now offered with a new exterior look, refreshed interior and more equipment over the current model.

      Under the hood, the XUV500 continues to be powered by the existing 2.2-litre four cylinder diesel motor. However, this time around the power output is slightly higher than before for better drivability. It has been increased from 140bhp/330Nm to 155bhp/360Nm. The engine can be had with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. There’s a petrol option, too which is a 2.2-litre unit producing 138bhp/320Nm and is offered only with a six-speed automatic transmission, which is the top-spec G AT variant.

      The 2018 XUV500 is available in five variants and here below are the highlights of every variant –

      XUV500 W5

      This is the base variant which gets a modest set of features like silver front grille inserts, smart key with remote and a 15cm monochrome infotainment display with USB, Bluetooth Audio. Moreover, this particular variant is limited to the black and grey interior combination. Projector headlamps along with other safety equipment such as dual front airbags and ABS with EBD is now standard. The base variant is limit to a six speed manual transmission and is priced at Rs 12.32 lakhs.

      All variants above the base variant get the XUV500 gets push-button start/stop, passive keyless entry, static bending headlamps, LED DRLs and 18-cm touchscreen infotainment display with GPS, USB and Bluetooth. Additionally, they get smart rain-sensing wipers, fully automatic temperature control (FATC) and premium tan and black interiors besides chrome front grille inserts. The trim features silver painted foglamp bezel and is available in manual and automatic options. The manual variant is priced at Rs 13.58 lakhs while automatic version comes at Rs 14.78 lakhs.

      Moving one level up, you have the W9 variant which is available in manual and automatic transmission options. Mahindra offers an electric sunroof with anti-pinch, voice messaging system, tyre-tronics, eight-way adjustable driver seat and telescopic steering. From the W9 variant onwards, you also get power-foldable ORVMs, alloy wheels, ESP with rollover mitigation, hill hold and descent control and front fog-lamps. The variant also offers a reverse parking camera with dynamic assist and mobile charging points in the first and the second row. On the pricing front, the manual version is priced at Rs 15.23 lakhs, while the automatic version is priced at Rs 16.43 lakhs.

      XUV500 W11

      The top-spec diesel XUV500 is available with an optional all-wheel drive system along with the regular two-wheel drive system. Interestingly, all the trims are available in manual as well as automatic transmission options. In addition to all the features from the lower variants, the W11 variant gets brake energy regeneration system, six-way power adjustable driver seat, quilted leather upholstery, soft touch leather on dashboard and door trims, illuminated scuff plates, sporty aluminum pedals, chrome door sill cladding and chrome tailgate applique. As for safety, it additionally offers side and curtain airbags. The AWD variants get the large diamond cut alloy wheels. The manual and automatic two-wheel drive W11 variants are priced at Rs 16.43 lakhs and Rs 17.63 lakhs respectively, while the AWD manual and automatic variants are priced at Rs 16.68 lakhs and Rs 17.88 lakhs respectively.

      XUV500 G AT

      The XUV500 G AT is limited to the petrol engine option. As compared to the W11 variant, it misses on features such as electric sunroof with anti-pinch, logo projection lamps on ORVMs, electrically adjustable driver seat and quilted leather upholstery. In terms of safety, it misses out on side and curtain airbags and reverse parking camera with dynamic assist. The XUV500 G AT is priced at Rs 15.43 lakhs.
