New Fiat Palio in India With a New Name

Fiat has gradually faced out its small car model Palio in India and has replaced it now with the Grand Punto which is doing quite well. The company is now planning to introduce a new refurbished Palio once again in the Indian market though with a new name. New leaked images of Fiat Palio are doing rounds on the internet but for now the model is codenamed as Project 326.

The new Palio is based on Novo Uno platform and is slightly larger with sport styling cues borrowed from the upmarket Punto and Bravo. However, it will be smaller than the Punto and priced lower as well. The new Palio will be powered by tweaked engines from the 1.0L petrol to 1.4 FIRE petrol and the 1.3 Multijet Diesel. Although there is no news on Fiat’s new Twinair engines, we can safely expect the latest generation two cylinder engines to make their way under the bonnet of the Palio shortly after its launch.

The design also indicates a higher bonnet, somewhat flared wheel-arches, and long and sweptback headlamps follow a popular design pattern. The tail-lamps will likely be vertical with an elliptical base intruding the rear side panel of the new car. Fiat may use the same platform for building a sedan model as well.
