Audi, the German luxury carmaker, will launch the 2015 TT coupe today in the Indian market. The new generation TT is based on VW’s MQB platform and features Audi Space Frame technology that makes it 50kgs – 70kgs lighter than the previous model. The coupe gets some styling cues from the Audi Prologue concept, and also shares resemblance to the Audi R8. The new model looks sportier and more aggressive than the old one. The car sports Audi’s Matrix LED lighting system, trapezoidal grille, larger air ducts, revised rear bumper and LED tail-lights, while rest of the design and silhouette remain unchanged.

The 2015 model is slightly longer in length, and has a longer wheelbase compared to the old model. The width is marginally reduced, while height remains same. The interior of the new-gen TT gets richer with some additional features such as a new multifunction flat steering, new 12.3-inches digital Nvidia Tegra 30 GPU powered instrumentation cluster and Bang & Olufsen music system with 12 speakers, 14 channel amplifier and 2 woofers.

The new model will be powered with the same old 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 227bhp, while yielding a peak torque of 370Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and gets Audi’s Quattro all wheel-drive system. Audi might also offer a more powerful TTS variant with 295.9bhp at a later stage. The new generation Audi TT coupe is likely to be priced between Rs. 60 lakh – Rs. 65 lakh. The German automaker will pitch the coupe against Mercedes-Benz SLK and BMW Z4.
