2012 Maruti Swift Dzire, one of the most awaited cars in Indian auto market, was launched in the country on Wednesday. The new model of Dzire is a compact version of the previous generation model, to which company has shelved in the price segment of Rs 4.79 lakh and Rs 7.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The price tag of the new Dzire is about Rs 26,000-31,000 lesser as compared to the previous generation model, as its length has been decreased to less than 4 meters, qualifying for a lesser excise duty segment. In comparison, the older Swift Dzire model was carrying a length of 4.2 meters and was available in the price segment of Rs 5.05 lakh to Rs 7.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The all new compact Swift Dzire is offered in both petrol and diesel versions, powered by 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engines, respectively. Moreover, the fuel efficiency of both petrol and diesel versions has been improved to 19.1 km per litre and 23.4 km per liter.
The new version of the Dzire model will further strengthen the position of the sedan in the Indian auto market, where it competes with the likes of Toyota Etios, Hyundai Accent, Ford Fiesta Classic, Tata Manza and Mahindra Verito.
Speaking to the reporters on the occasion of the launch of new Swift Dzire model, Maruti's managing executive officer (marketing and sales) Mayank Pareek said, "We have incorporated over 150 new features compared to the existing one. The new car has been designed keeping in view the urban youth and increase the average monthly sales of 8,000 units attained by the older Dzire."
